Our call for peace not backed with action - Kwesi Anning

Director at the Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research at the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Centre, Dr. Kwesi Aning says it is not enough for people to just talk peace without backing their words with action.

According to the security analyst, signals being sent by politicians are not right ahead of the pronouncement of judgment on ongoing election petition before the Supreme Court.

Messages of peace continue to flood every part of the country ahead of the Supreme Court judgment and there are concerns the outcome might turn violent if Ghanaians are not properly sensitised to accept the outcome.

Speaking on Ghana Connect on Joy Fm Friday, Dr. Aning said the country has not done enough to prepare for the peaceful outcome that it desires.

According to him, celebratory messages from parties involved in the petition in anticipation of a final judgment, should be a cause for worry.

"...Our very bahaviour and language are laying the foundation for some level of disturbance after the pronouncement of judgment,” he added.
