The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has chastised the Bono Regional Minister for allegedly using his political position to meddle in the Sampa chieftaincy affairs.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made the remarks on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the final Asanteman Council meeting of the year held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Addressing members of the council, the Asantehene stressed that he would not tolerate political interference in chieftaincy matters, insisting that such issues must be handled strictly within traditional and legal frameworks.

“I don’t hate anyone, but I will not allow anyone to use politics to meddle in chieftaincy issues,” Otumfuo stated.
He explained that the Bono Regional Minister had previously served as a lawyer in the Sampa chieftaincy case, which he said has already been settled, and, therefore, has a direct interest in the matter.
According to the Asantehene, the minister’s continued public commentaries on the issue, despite its resolution, is inappropriate and unacceptable.
“The regional minister was a lawyer in the case, and the issue has already been settled, so I don’t know why he is still talking about it,” Otumfuo added, warning that he would not allow anyone to use political power to interfere in chieftaincy affairs.
