Otiko-Naabu feud 'damaged' NPP - Boadu

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the “unfortunate” public verbal exchanges between the Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu, and the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Djaba, did “damage to the party”.

This was revealed by its Acting General Secretary John Boadu after the party’s National Council meeting in Accra.

Mr Naabu and Ms Djaba’s fight began when the Chairman violently disrupted a meeting between the Minister and a women’s group in the Northern Region because he was not informed of the gathering.

Ms Djaba in response accused Mr Naabu of taking cows and goats as bribe to offer people jobs. Mr Naabu replied by accusing Otiko of being a controversial person in the party and having a hand in the death of the late Upper East regional chairman of the party, Adams Mahama.

Asked by a journalist whether the altercations have had any adverse effects on the party, Mr Boadu said: “It is, other than that we wouldn’t have wasted so much time in even discussing it at such an august body like the National Council.”

He said the president was on a tour of neighbouring countries which “should have occupied the public space for us to discuss, but these unfortunate utterances that occurred blurred all these important achievements of the president, so, it has done damage to the party and we disapprove of it”.



Mr Boadu used the opportunity to apologise to Ghanaians for the feud.

The NPP, after its emergency National Council meeting in Accra on Wednesday May 10, directed the two politicians to render an apology and bond to be of good behaviour.
