Otiko Djaba urges disabled persons to reject negative societal perception

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba has advised person with disabilities to believe in themselves and live a dignified life.

Speaking at a durbar to mark 2017 International Day with Persons with Disabilities at the Accra Rehabilitation Center today, Madam Otiko urged the disabled persons to reject the negative societal perception and rather take advantage of government numerous opportunities and initiatives like the Free SHS to enhance their living conditions and also respect themselves.

She further advised that Ghanaians should also support persons with disabilities and assist them with proper rehabilitation.

“In addition to direct employment being given to PWD in the public sector, (for instance over 70 PWDs have been employed by the Roads and Transport Ministry as Toll Booth attendants.” Hon. Otiko noted.
