Otiko Djaba's resignation will affect NPP in 2020 elections - Kennedy Agyapong

The outspoken member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has said that the resignation of the immediate past Minister of Gender, Children and Social protection, Ms Otiko Afisa Djaba will cause the party (NPP ) in 2020 elections.

Speaking on the resignation of Otiko Djaba with joy news, he said that she was part of the team that helped Nana Akufo-Addo come to power and her resignation will affect the party immensely.

He proceeded by saying that she carries huge followers and her omission alone will affect the party and for a president to win an election he needs 50% plus a vote.

" Every member of the party is important if nothing at all her votes is important. So she is relevant, more so she is a woman organizer who brought the party to power. She was part of the team, She played a role. So I cannot stand here and tell you that if Otiko has resigned she should resign because No! I can't say that. She is very very important. And don't forget, one person that leaves the party has a husband like Otiko, has children, has relatives. so if one person resigns it's not her alone, she has about a minimum of 50 people that follow her and as president, you need 50% plus 1 vote so everyone counts. So I will not stand here and discredit her " he said

He also said he doesn't see anything wrong with her designation to resign from active politics.

" I don't see anything wrong with it. If she feels she doesn't want to be in politics again," he said

He added that he even wants to resign and enjoy his retirement but his 'people' are not allowing him to go.

"Take me for instance, I want to leave and go and enjoy my retirement at age 60 but my people still don't seem to understand,"

"Sometimes you get involved in certain things and you realise no, enough is enough. I have to move on. So, it is only in this country that people are afraid to resign, that is why I am not a minister.

"Because if the thing is not right I will say it. If it is against my superior and he says... Me I will resign. So, I don't see anything wrong with it," he said.
