One killed, eight injured in car accident

Gomoa Oguaakrom, (C/R) Nov. 19, GNA-One person died on the spot and eight others receiving various degree of injury when a pick-up and tractor they travelling on were involved in a head-on collision near Gomoa Oguaakrom on the Winneba-Agona Swedru road on Sunday. The Winneba District Police Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eunice Bosompim, speaking to the GNA at Winneba on Monday, named the dead as Kwabena Ebo, who was on the pick-up.

She said the eight persons including the drivers of the tractor and the pick-up whose names were not disclosed by the police are responding to treatment at the Winneba government hospital. According to her, 10 persons were on the tractor while Ebo and the driver were also on the pick-up.

ASP. Bosompim said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for autopsy while police investigation continues.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, she appealed to drivers to be extra careful on the road to avoid accidents and loss of lives during the upcoming Christmas festivities. 19 Nov. 07
