One drowns in Afram Plains ferry accident

One person has drowned and several others injured in an accident involving a ferry crossing the Afram River.

The incident happened Saturday around 8pm, according to Agoo FM’s Abena Pokuaa.

The small ferry sank while carting a truck [Man Diesel vehicle] and some goods from Atoaboma to Bridge Anu. Ten people who were also on board the ferry got injured and are receiving treatment at the hospital.

Local authorities told Starr News they are embarking on a search for the missing person.

The exact cause of the accident is not immediately known, however, the locals say it could be due to overloading.
