The Old Tafo Municipal Assembly is intensifying its efforts to enforce sanitation by-laws, with Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Abubakar Sadiq leading the charge through both active participation and stern warnings to defaulters.

The MCE personally spearheaded the government's monthly Sanitation Day exercise, demonstrating hands-on commitment to cleanliness in the Pankrono Electoral Area.

During the exercise, which also covered Bediako and Adabraka electoral areas, Mr. Sadiq made a strong statement by fully engaging in the clean-up.

Dressed in work gear, complete with wellington boots and hand gloves, he actively participated in desilting choked and unpleasant gutters, a sight that shocked and impressed bystanders.

"This MCE is too much. He is down to Earth. He's shown a great leadership example. God will bless him.

I have never seen an MCE desilting gutters like this before. You can see that he does it with a clean heart," some by-standers remarked, offering praise for his dedication.

Beyond his exemplary leadership, Mr. Sadiq reiterated the Assembly's firm commitment to ensuring sanitation hygiene throughout the municipality.

He announced that punitive actions, including spot fines or court proceedings, await defaulters, particularly landlords who fail to sanitize their frontages or neglect to participate in the communal clean-up exercises.

"The Assembly will intensify the enforcement of sanitation by-laws to enhance sanitation hygiene in the municipality," the MCE stated.

He emphasized that maintaining a clean and healthy environment is a collective responsibility, urging all residents to actively complement the government's efforts to reduce communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The MCE expressed concern over the passive attitude of some residents who "sit on the fence" while others diligently work to keep the environment clean.

He stressed that the Assembly's strengthened enforcement drive is ultimately aimed at promoting a clean and healthy living space for all residents of the Old Tafo Municipality.
