Okyenhene urges African Chiefs to protect their cultural values

Kyebi(E/R), Sept. 08, GNA - Osagyefo Amotia Ofori Panin, Okyenhene, has called on African Traditional Rulers to fight against any form of interference that could suppress their cultural values. He said as custodians of the values which had guided the progress of people of Africa over the years, traditional rulers need to be concerned about how the rich values of their ancestors could influence the modern development of the continent.

Osagyefo Ofori Panin made the call when a 25 member delegation of traditional rulers form Southern Sudan called on him at his palace at Ofori Panin fie at Kyebi.

The delegation was in the country as part of their tour of some selected African countries including Ghana to observe how traditional rulers could contribute to the democratic development of the continent. It was led by Professor K. K. Prah, a Ghanaian based in South Africa who was appointed by the United Nations to lead the team on their tour.

The delegation had already visited South Africa, Botswana and now in Ghana to visit some selected traditional areas in the country.
