Okyenhene asks youth to be disciplined

The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has called on the youth to be disciplined and show respect for authority in order to promote orderly development in the communities.

He decried the upsurge in gambling, drug addiction and criminal tendencies by the youth in the area and warned that anyone caught would face prosecution either at the traditional court or be handed over to the Police.

Addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people at Kyebi to mark the Ohumkan festival on Wednesday, Osagyefuo Ofori Panin cited in particular the alleged use of dynamite to destroy a KVIP in the town recently and asked the people to expose the culprit to face the law.

He stressed the need for unity among the citizens of Akyem Abuakwa to promote development and reminded them that it was only through self-help that they could attract support from the government and district assemblies.

The Okyenhene announced that the state council would pass a bye-law making it an offence for any child to be seen roaming at night instead of studying at home.

He urged businessmen to employ the youth to make them more useful to society.
