Ohene Ntow Too Loots Bungalow

Like Father (Sakyi Hughes) Like Son (Ntow)

Story by Andy Kankam

Nana Ohene Ntow, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary whom ex-President Kufuor, describe as a disgrace, for leading his party into opposition, has been trapped by The Informer’s pair trawler, to have ransacked the government bungalow that he illegally occupied for years, until when his party was booted out of office.

Like a copy-cat of former Speaker Ebenezer Begyina Saki Hughes, Nana Ohene Ntow who in the first place should not have been gifted a government bungalow, deem it proper to cause the nation’s coffers to bleed profusely by destroying or taking away even things he never purchased at the time of going to occupy the property.

The NPP General Secretary (Nana Ohene Ntow) who allocated to himself a state bungalow, opposite the Ghana International School (GIS) at Cantonment in Accra and housed his family in, left the bungalow in total mess, going away with everything he could find and destroying those he though wise to do so. The house was left in ruins with litters all over the rooms and the compound, our investigation has revealed.

The building had all its floor tiles removed, electricity meters and sockets removed, kitchen cabinets destroyed, some of the louvre blades broken, door locks taken away and many other facilities including the bath destroyed beyond repairs.

Justifiable on his part to have denied state officials at that time the access to official accommodation for the period, he decided to leave the property in badly stinking conditions and uninhabitable. Apart from the fact that the living rooms were as filthy as the refuse dumpsite, the General Secretary littered the floors with the used cloths and rags.

When The Informer made its holly entry into the apartments, the unhygienic nature of the Ohene Ntow’s mindset dawned on the crew, and a quick tour found properties like his call cards, damaged radio sets as well as funeral brochures of dead relatives scattered all over the hall as if the apartment had been turned into a Zoomlion dumping site.

Nana Ohene Ntow left the bungalow, when his party lost power and was asked to vacate the apartment which he had occupied illegally.

When this paper sought the views of the Minister of Works and Housing, Hon. Abongo, in a telephone conversation, he said his attention has been drawn to the regrettable state that the NPP’s General Secretary left the bungalow and was prepared to follow the report, but has been challenged by news that the property has been sold to the Ghana International School (GIS).

The Editor’s Note

Those of us working on The Informer were gripped with shock when we discovered that Nana Ohene Ntow for the period of four good years was living in government bungalow to the extent that, he thought it was wise on his part to take away or destroy whatever he came to meet in there.

We wish that the state apparatus responsible will investigate the issue especially how the property was sold to GIS.

Our expectations are that, the Ministry responsible for state housing should with immediate effect calculate the rent for the number of periods that he has used the property for him to pay, since he was an illegal occupant of the place. To us ex-President Kufuor was not mistaken at all to have asked him to shut his mouth after having led his party into opposition, after unprecedented amount of resources were made available to the party and he was handed a tact election execution plan, by his predecessor, who won every local and general election for the party.
