The government of Ghana has announced that the six remaining victims of the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash will be buried at the Military Cemetery in Tse Addo, Accra, on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Addressing a press conference ahead of the interdenominational and interfaith funeral on Friday, Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbe indicated that the bodies of the six, comprising Minister of Defence Edward Omane Boamah; Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; and three crew members — Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah — will be taken for interment after a pre-burial service on Friday.

“After the service, the bodies of the six yet to be buried will be conveyed to the Military Cemetery at Tse Addo for burial. There, the Ghana Armed Forces, together with the churches of the six departed comrades, will oversee the burial ceremony at the cemetery,” he announced.

The state funeral for the eight victims of the crash follows the burial of two victims, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Murtala Muhammed and Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Limuna, who were buried on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in line with Islamic customs.

Speaking at the burial, which also took place at the Military Cemetery on Sunday, President John Dramani Mahama noted that families of the deceased can still organise separate funeral rites if they wish.

“The families are able to hold separate events to commemorate their loved ones, and the government will be there to assist them,” the president said.

The president expressed gratitude to the families of the Muslim brothers for permitting their burial at the nationally designated location instead of their respective hometowns or chosen locations.

“We recognise that in Islam, when a person has died, they are supposed to be buried as quickly as possible, but the condition of the bodies made it difficult for us to positively identify which was which,” the president said.
