OML Africa, International Human Resource Consultants, on Wednesday launched Human Resource support services to assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Dubbed ‘Deliver my Human Resource (HR)’ the service is to help SMEs minimize the challenges of administrative overload and provide SMEs with the peace of mind to concentrate on their core business.

Mrs Anita Wiafe-Asinor, the Managing Director, OML Africa, speaking at the launch of the product said the focus on SMEs was critical because of the role they play in the country’s socio-economic development.

She said the product was designed to meet the needs of SMEs with little or no internal professional HR support or for small organizations where HR had just been attached to somebody’s job as a convenience.

“OML Africa is best positioned to provide HR support to design to integrate into SMEs and provide a confidential service, efficiency and strategic support”, she said.

The SME sector is the largest employer in every economy, but faced with the human resource challenges.

Research shows that 70 per cent of organisations in Ghana do not have HR as a strategic partner, with 20 per cent of the remaining 30 per cent having their HR departments not working efficiently.

Mrs Wiafe-Asinor said some of the HR challenges SMEs face are high cost in employing a full HR personnel, filling the talent gap, identifying and retaining the right talent, finding a skilled workforce and not having in place good HR policies and structures.

She urged SMEs to partner them to provide professional HR support, contribute to business decisions on human capital investments and day-to-day HR operations.

Mr Emmanuel Awumee, a Transport Management Consultant, commended OML Africa for initiating the product to re-defined HR practices in SMEs.

He said human capital management was one of the major challenges faced by SMEs, adding that the product would serve as a catalyst to address some of the administrative challenges in the sector.

Mr Awumee said his outfit would engage the services of OML Africa to provide strategic HR support to minimize challenges of administrative overload and legislative compliance issues.
