The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Nyakrom Senior High Technical School is constructing 18 classroom blocks for the school at the cost of 1.2 Million Ghana Cedis.
Mr G.W. Ankomah-Sey, Chairman of the Association, who made this known to the Press at Agona Nyakrom, said 12 out of 18 classrooms have been completed for use.
He said the Association had spent over 500,000 Ghana Cedis on the 12 classrooms, and would soon hand them over to the school authorities.
Mr Ankomah-Sey said the project was being financed through contributions of 10 Ghana Cedis per student.
The Chairman hinted that the Association had sent a proposal on the payment of 30 Ghana Cedis to theDirector-General of Ghana Education Service (GES) through the Regional Director of GES for approval.
He said if the amount was approved, part would be used to complete the remaining classroom blocks to reduce pressure on the existing structures.
Mr Ankomah-Sey stated that the authorities of the school would assist government to provide adequate structures to enhance quality teaching and learning.
According to the PTA Chairman, the Association would tackle accommodation problem facing the teachers.
Mr Ankomah-Sey disclosed that the Association had plans to change the black boards to new ones where felt pens could be used.
He said about 50 tutors were commuting from Agona Swedru to the school, which did not promote discipline and effective academic work.
The PTA Chairman appealed to the old students and other corporate bodies to come to the aid of the school to facilitate its development.
Mr Ankomah-Sey called on the parents and guardians of the school to contribute their quota towards the development of education for all.
