Nwinsa community, in the Atwima Kwawonma Constituency of the Ashanti Region, is excited over the town’s connection to the national grid after decades of living without electricity.
Thanks to a major government initiative, Nwinsa has finally been connected to the "national grid," bringing an end to years of darkness.
The excited residents of Nwinsa praised Kofi Amankwa-Manu Esq., their Member of Parliament and former Deputy Defense Minister, for fulfilling his promise.
They have also expressed their gratitude to the government for finally bringing electricity to their community.
"I made a promise to you when I was contesting for the MP position for the first time that, given the opportunity, I would ensure you are connected to the national grid. Today, that promise has been fulfilled," the MP remarked.
The connection of Nwinsa to the national grid is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of residents, enabling them to access basic amenities and improve their economic prospects.
"This is unprecedented and I consider it a historic achievement. The people of Nwinsa are seeing lights for the first time, and I will forever be grateful to Kofi Amankwa-Manu," Nana Nuben Sra III, the Chief of Trede, described the development as historic.
This development underscores the government's commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians, particularly in rural areas.
According to a report by 3news.com on June 22, 2025, Ama, an elated resident and a seamstress, stated, "Now I can at least acquire an industrial machine to accelerate my workload. I cannot thank the MP enough."
Kofi Amankwa-Manu Esq., the Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwawonma, assured residents that he will work with the current Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to ensure the constituency benefits from additional resources.
"I am committed to working hand-in-hand with the MCE for development. Government is a complex process. Although my party is not in power, I will continue to advocate for more development," he added.
As Nwinsa begins to reap the benefits of electricity, many residents are hopeful that this will serve as a catalyst for growth and development in the community.
