Nunoo-Mensah's new post needless – Kabila

James Kwabena Bomfeh popularly known as Kabila, former National Youth Organiser of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has asked President John Dramani Mahama to let Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah (rtd) go on retirement instead of ‘creating job’ for him.

According to him, the former National Security advisor is old and needs ‘rest’; hence the new “position given to him is unnecessary”.

President Mahama has appointed former Interior Minister W. K. Aboah as the new National Security Adviser. He takes over from retired Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah who has been appointed as the Head of the Human Security Department of the National Security Council Secretariat.

Kabila said “at his (Nunoo-Mensah) age he needs to be resting in his house with his grandchildren” and so he (Kabila) does not understand why the President ‘cannot be bold’ to tell Nunoo-Mensah ‘to take a rest’.

“That appointment is not necessary, he should be bold enough to make him go on retirement. If he has reached his elastic limit and needs rest we should allow him to rest instead of giving him a position… as if the president is doing him a favour. He should retire” - Kabila said during a panel discussion on PEACE FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo.’
