Nudity on television is alarming-Rev.Boakye

Sunyani, June 2, GNA- The Very Reverend Oswald F.K Boakye, Superintendent Minister in charge of Wesley Cathedral of the Methodist Church in Sunyani has expressed grave concern about nudity on television screens in the country.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, he called for appropriate censorship of movies and programmes to promote decency and moral uprightness in society.

Very Rev Boakye noted that certain scenes, acts and practices depicted in some of the movies and programmes were alien to Ghanaian culture and attributed the situation to the proliferation of the media. He admonished parents to closely monitor the activities of their children to discourage them from 93copying blindly these acts which are harmful to their spiritual growth and development".

Commenting on the upsurge of homosexuality, he described the practice as shameful and should not be condoned or entertained in the country, sayin= g its existence would only retard national development. He cautioned perpetrators 93who hide under the disguise of exercising their human rights to commit such ungodly acts to refrain from the practice to avoid the wrath of God on the nation as it did happen to Sodom and Gomorrah".

He called on Christendom and society at large to preach against such practices for the sustained development of the nation. 2 June 11
