Crime Check Foundation (CCF), a Prisons NGO with support from Dominic Adiyiah, a Ghanaian footballer, has donated 10 Orbit Fans to the inmates of the Nsawam Female Prisons in the Eastern Region.

The donation forms part of the "Support the Operation 2,000 Orbit Fans" project initiated by Mr Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the Ambassador Extraordinaire of Prisons.

The project is to mobilise resources and donations to enable the Foundation fix fans in all the 42 Prisons nationwide.

The Ghanaian footballer based in Thailand presented 50 fans to support the project.

Mr Kwarteng, who is also the Executive Director of CCF, told the GNA that the donation had come at a crucial time, where inmates suffer from various heat diseases as a result of the overcrowding in the cells.

He said the Nsawam Female Prison, made a request of 10 fans, hence the presentation to them.

He said the remaining 40 fans would be equally distributed to other Prisons.

He commended the footballer for the support to the Foundation and expressed the hope that more individuals and organizations would also support.

The Ambassador of Prisons said the inmates in Ghana's Prisons were facing a lot of challenges including feeding, health situations and some needed lawyers to appeal their sentences.

He said it was not always correct that persons in Prison had committed a crime, adding that "Prisons could be anybody’s potential home."

He appealed to groups, individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the Ghana Prisons.

"Let all support the inmates to reform and when they are out, they can contribute meaningful to the development of the Nation," he said.

Mr Adiyiah, speaking to the GNA from his base in Thailand said he would keep supporting the Foundation with 50 fans every month.

The Prisons Authorities expressed their gratitude to the Ambassador and Mr Adiyiah for the support, adding that it would go a long way to help the inmates.
