Notorious defilement suspect arrested at Edumfa

Police in the Central Region have arrested a 27-year-old man for defiling a six year old girl at Edumfa in the Central Region.

The suspect, Michael Yira covered the mouth of the six year old with a cloth to prevent her from screaming to attract the attention of people to his criminal act.

He subsequently cleaned the semen in the private part of the little girl with a towel.

The victim was defiled in the very house she lives by the suspect who happens to be a relative.

The suspect was arrested by the townfolk after the six year old and her mother went to lodge a complaint with the police.

Residents say this is not the first time Michael Yira has committed such crime.

According to the District Police Commander for Abura/Asebu/Kwamankese District, John Paul Akunde the little girl’s medical report and the circumstantial evidence are more than enough to prosecute the suspect.

He’s due to be arraigned before court on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
