Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has hinted at the possibility of taking up a public office role in the near future but has made it clear that he has no interest in becoming the next Special Prosecutor.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Kpebu firmly dismissed speculation that he is positioning himself to replace the current Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, with whom he is engaged in an ongoing legal dispute.

“That is not the office I have dreamt about. It is clear that some day I will go into public office, it is very clear to me now, but not Special Prosecutor,” he stated.

His comments follow criticism suggesting that his advocacy for the removal of Agyebeng is part of a broader plan to take over the role, but Kpebu described such claims as ‘paraphrased’ distortions, insisting that he cannot logically be campaigning for the ouster of the Special Prosecutor while intending to occupy the same position.

“Having led the charge in calling for him (Kissi Agyebeng) to go, I should not be the one to replace him,” he added.

Kpebu reiterated his belief that he will eventually be called into public service but stressed that the Office of the Special Prosecutor does not align with his aspirations.

He also recounted the emotional toll of his recent encounters with the OSP, remarking, “I’m still a bit traumatised,” in reference to what he describes as alleged abuse.
