Northern Regional Security Council steps up measures to combat crime

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has unveiled plans to curb the increasing spate of crime, especially armed robbery in parts of the region.

In the last couple of weeks, there have been several cases of robberies with recorded deaths and injuries with the police themselves not spared in the activities of these miscreants.

Residents have raised concerns of the growing insecurity coupled with rampant attacks targeted at some fuel stations and homes within the Tamale Metropolis.

Chairman of REGSEC and Regional Minister Salifu Sa-eed is therefore set to launch operation Calm Lives to deal with the situation.

In a statement, issued and signed on Wednesday, he indicated that the operation is aimed at restoring total calm in the region for people to go about their normal duties without fear or panic and to demonstrate the readiness and preparedness of the Security Agencies to deal with any miscreants who would engage in various forms of crime in the region.
