A foretaste of a seeming acrimonious relationship between the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed and Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu is getting murkier over a road contract.
The two leaders of the ruling party in the already volatile region have been nursing acerbic relationship since the release of the Ministerial nominations by the President some three months ago, which the Regional Chairman according to our sources was highly against the choice of President Akufo-Addo as the political head of the region.
Reliable information reaching mynewsgh.com indicates that the NPP Regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu is currently knocking at the doors of the presidency demanding the immediate removal of the Regional Minister for allegedly refusing him a ‘mouth-watering’ road contract.
The Chairman is reportedly accusing the Minister of also refusing to honour his invitation for an emergency meeting meant to discuss the contract details with him (Bugri Naabu) which has further heightened the tension between them.
Last week, it was reported that some contractors under the influence of Bugri Naabu accused the minister of alleged extortion after they issued a release signed by two persons who claimed to be members of the Contractors Association (Chairman, Alhaji Iddal and one Alhaji Tono Man).
Though both the Regional Chairman and the Minister have separately disclosed that there is no bad blood between them over the said contract, occurrences between them in the last couple of weeks defeats their claims.
The Chairman is said to have instigated some contractors against the Minister when he has barely settled in office.
The statement going viral on various social media platforms believed to have been instigated by Bugri Naab through the said Contractors Association is pointing accusing fingers at the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed for allegedly extorting money from contractors and businessmen in exchange for government contracts.
The Northern Regional Minister who is believed to be heavily indebted to those contractors, close friends, some microfinance institutions and colleagues Ministers of State among others, is promising them contracts in return.
The Statement alleged that some of his creditors and other people who used their properties as collaterals were having their properties taken away by some banks on daily basis.
The contractors and businessmen said their intended action in the coming days against the Minister was to expose his corrupt activities and his smart way of extorting monies from people.
