The Northern Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have suspended the party’s Communication Officer of the Bunkpurugu Constituency, Mr Moisob Ephraim Bidobi for disclosing confidential party information without approval by the executives.
A statement issued in Tamale on Thursday, signed by Mr Halid Abdul-Rauf, Northern Regional Secretary of NDC, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said Mr Bidobi’s disclosure of confidential party information to the media violated Article 45(8)(b)(c) and Article 46(c) of the party's constitution.
It said this disclosure “Is intended to embarrass the party and bring the constituency executives of Bunkpurugu into hatred and ridicule”.
The statement said Mr Bidobi, by his suspension, which took effect from October 1, 2015, ceased to be the Communication Officer of the Bunkpurugu Constituency.
The statement warned that other executives and members would suffer similar fate if their behaviours violated the party’s constitution and the guidelines set out for the conduct of the parliamentary primaries of November 7, 2015.
It asked party executives and members “to remain impartial and create a level playing ground for all candidates”.
Meanwhile, Mr Bidobi, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed disappointment at the decision of the party, saying that, he was not called to explain himself concerning the issue.
He said he only commented on what happened during the vetting of parliamentary aspirants from the Bunkpurugu Constituency last Sunday, and that, he does not think it violated the party’s constitution.
