No toilet at Osamkrom Prison Camp

Gomoa Osamkrom, (C/R), Feb. 29, GNA – Deputy Superintendent of Prison Simon F.K. Sunoo has said the lack of adequate structures and essential facilities at the Gomoa Osamkrom Prison Camp is hampering the smooth operation of the Camp.

DSP Sunoo who is the Deputy Commander of the Camp, said this when he received food items worth 1,000 Ghana Cedis from the Members of Free Masons Commerce and Industry Lodge under the District Grand Lodge of Ghana on behalf of the inmates.

He said some of the essential facilities absent in the camp include residential and office accommodations and a modern toilet facility for officers and inmates adding that officers on duty have to attend nature’s call in nearby bushes due to lack of toilet facility at the Camp.

DSP Sunoo said an open pit-latrine roofed with palm branches, had been constructed at the Camp for the inmates but appealed to philanthropists and well-wishers to come to the aid of the inmates since their daily feeding allowance of 1.80 cedis could not sustain them.

He commended the Free Masons Commerce and Industry Lodge for their gesture and appealed to the Gomoa East District and Agona West Municipal Assemblies to come to the aid of the prisons Service.

Mr Eddi Appiah who made the presentation on behalf of the Society asked the inmates not to repeat what brought them to the prison but should plan to do better things as they reach the end their sentence.

He said the Free Masons had donated materials and food to many individuals and others throughout the country as part of their social responsibilities.

He said the move to the camp followed the recommendation made by their newly elected Worshiped Master, Mr Philip Eddico who visited the camp sometime last year.

Other members present were Worshiped Brother Mike Oddoqaye, Worshiped Brother Willie Sumuna, Worshiped Brother Desmond Sumuna , Brother Marcus Asare and Brother Eric Atsu.
