The GaDangme leadership has denied claims that it received incentives from the family of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba to drop a case concerning the alleged burial of the singer in an unauthorised place on Ga land.
Rev Ankrah, spokesperson for the Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse, speaking on March 17, 2026, said the leadership of the Nungua Traditional Area has taken note of allegations that cows, cattle and other items, as well as money, were given to influence the matter.
“We have information coming from various angles. People are alleging that cows, cattle, and other items have been given to the traditional leaders of Nungua. Some are also alleging that money has been given to Nungua concerning this very matter of the burial of Daddy Lumba in the soil of Nungua,” he said.
Daddy Lumba's family must pacify Ga gods – Ga Dangme leaders insist
Rev Ankrah stated emphatically that nothing of that sort has been received from the Lumba family.
“We don’t know of these things. What we are saying is that noting, the family of Daddy Lumba has not donated any cows, bulls, or whatever, nothing has been done. We haven’t seen them yet,” he noted.
The family head of the Lumba family, Victor Kofi Owusu, also known as Abusuapanyin Tupac, was formally summoned by the GaDangme traditional authorities.
The summons, issued by Wor Lumor Konor Nuumo Borkete Laweh Tsuru, the Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse and Spiritual Overlord of the GaDangme State, requested him to appear at the Nungua Palace on March 13, 2026, at 11:30 am.
According to the notice, the appearance is connected to public concerns regarding the alleged burial of Daddy Lumba at his private residence in East Legon, Accra.
However, on the scheduled date, neither the family head nor any representative of the late legend was present.
