Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, received a rapturous reception from NPP faithful in his hometown, the Walewale Constituency, on Wednesday afternoon, during his national campaign tour.

In a remarkable show of love and support, party members and supporters, who had packed the auditorium where the former vice president was billed to address them, rather prevented him from campaigning to them, insisting that they had already made up their minds to give him a resounding victory in January's NPP presidential primaries.

The former vice president has been touring the entire nation campaigning for the primaries, and Wednesday marked the beginning of his tour of the Northeast Region, having toured the Upper West and Upper East regions in the past few days.

Bawumia’s visit to Walewale turned out to be an opportunity for party faithful in his home constituency to reiterate their unwavering support for him.

Before his arrival, members of the party were charged, dancing to both traditional beats and specially composed songs for the former vice president.

And there was near pandemonium when he arrived and was formally welcomed and called to address party members, as he does in every constituency he has visited.

However, the charged party supporters refused to allow Dr Bawumia to go through the long minutes of addressing them or campaigning to them, saying they have already made up their minds to vote massively for him, assuring him of 100% support.

The ecstatic supporters rather surrounded the former vice president, dancing and chanting his name in support.

Amid all the enthusiastic demonstration of support, Dr Bawumia still grabbed the mic and spoke to them for less than a minute, instead of his nearly one-hour address with party members in each constituency.

He expressed gratitude to the party members for their display of massive support and their promise to deliver 100% emphatic victory for him in January's primaries.
