Chairperson of Mahama ladies, Hajia Tawa Zakari-Raji, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) women group who have vowed to make sure President Mahama secures a second term, has debunked media publications that some of their ladies defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the weekend.
Describing the story as a cooked story which should be treated with the contempt it deserves, the chairperson stated that no Mahama lady was present even at Akropong where the incident was purported to have happened.
In a statement issued on Monday, she pointed out that Mahama ladies on that day had just returned from a 4- day massive campaign tour from the Upper Denkyira East constituency and thus they suspect the perpetrators of “this dastardly act were hit so much that they put up this news item to obliterate the gains we made”.

Our attention has been drawn to a spurious and malicious news item published by ghanaweb.com and adomfmonline.com in which supposed members of Mahama Ladies defected to the opposition NPP.
It is not our style to give currency to such fictional journalistic works, but for the sake of our teeming admirers both home and abroad, we wish to put on record that the said news item was a figment of imagination of the writer intended to soil the enviable niche Mahama Ladies have carved for themselves.
It is not surprising that those behind this irrational paid job cooked this story after our 4-days tour of the Upper Denkyira constituency. Our activities in the Upper Denkyira East constituency have hit the camp of the perpetrators of this dastardly act so much that they put up this new item to obliterate the gains we made. Unfortunately, no amount of lies and fabrication can erase our impact in the Upper Denkyira East constituency.
For the records, MAHAMA LADIES organized a very successful health screening exercise in a Zongo community on Friday in the Upper Denkyira East constituency which was well patronized by constituents from far and near. As part of our programme line-up, we organized a peace walk on Saturday through the principal streets with the Christian council and various political parties actively involved.
This was followed with a cleanup exercise by MAHAMA LADIES at the Dunkwa government hospital. We also donated mats and “buta” to all three Mosques in the Dunkwa Zongo community. The group climaxed its activities on Sunday with a massive float through the principal streets of Dunkwa which attracted the youths and the elderly who scrambled for NDC and Hon Emelia Ankomah's T shirts.
Whilst we call on Ghanaians to treat the news item with the greatest contempt it deserves, Mahama Ladies also request a retraction and apology from the two leading online news portals within two working days failure of which we will take needed steps rooted in law to cleanse the mud being thrown at us. It is not our wish to be engaged in legal bouts with any media outlet, but if we have to do that to clear our name, we will not hesitate in taking that step.
Thank you.
Hajia Tawa Zakari-Raji
