Nitiwul must apologise to Mahama - Bawa-Mogtari

Joyce Bawa-Mogtari, Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, has called on Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul to apologise over false accusations to the effect that Mr Mahama was occupying military land.

This follows a press conference by the East Dadekotopon Development Trust (EDDT) to set the records straight that the said parcel of land belongs to the people of La.

Secretary to the Trust, Nii Yemoh pointed out that “the land is pure and simple in the Trust’s title certificate.”

He said the Defense Minister was peddling falsehood because the Trust is the owner of the land after a court ruling against the military as he reiterated “it is not military land [even] the Burma Camp land is an old airport land acquired in 1944".

Ms Bawa-Mogtari who was speaking in an interview on Joy FM on Tuesday December 12, said Mr Nitiwul ought to have conducted his checks before making disparaging comments against Mr Mahama.

It would be recalled that Mr Nitiwul had asked Mr Mahama to vacate what he considered “disputed” military land.

“I am advising [ex-President Mahama] that if I were him, I will not live there,” he said while addressing journalists at the Meet the Press series on Thursday, 7 December 2017.

“It’s not good. Within two years we sold every piece of land, over 300 acres of land, to individuals,” he added.
