Nii Armah Ashitey, Member of Parliament for Korle- Klottey Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to forge ahead with unity to ensure victory for the Party in the upcoming general elections.
He said the NDC is a party which stands for peace and development and appealed to the rank and file to forgive and forget each others sins and unite for the party to retain power under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama in the December elections.
Nii Ashitey was addressing members of the NDC Zongo Caucus in the Korle-Klottey Constituency at Adabraka in Accra.
He said the NDC over the last three years had improved the lives of people in the Constituency and developed the areas of Education, Health and Social Infrastructure to continue to up-lift the standards of the people.
Nii Ashitey noted that Korle-Klottey constituency was the seat of Government, adding “We can’t afford to lose this seat; lets unite and forge ahead for victory.”
He said politicians in their quest for political power give series of promises to win votes of electorates and that the people in the constituency already know ‘he’ is capable of doing despite he does not occupy a Ministerial position.
Alhaji Osumanu Amadu, Constituency Chairman of the Zongo Caucus said it was important for members to always realize their mistakes and correct them to protect the integrity of the Party.
He said lessons were learnt from the last parliamentary primaries in all constituencies nationwide and that the ideology of the NDC was to serve Ghanaians with respect, dignity and develop all sectors of the country.
Alhaji Amadu noted that the Party’s ideology were in the right direction under the late President John Evans Atta Mills and currently President Mahama.
He appealed to members in the constituency and Ghana as a whole to unite and to ensure the party’s victory in December 2012.
Alhaji Ismael Bawa, Former Member of Parliament for Ablekumah Central and Executive Member of the Zongo Caucus, noted that peace and unity was more than wealth and urged party members to continue to preach peace in all their endeavors.
He said the all-die-be-die agenda which was being pursued by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was not out of Ghanaians minds, adding that, “The NDC is a peaceful party and would continue to be peaceful till thy kingdom come.”
