Nii Adama Latse is the only Ga Mantse we know – Paramount stool custodian

Custodian for one of the factions of the Greater Accra Paramount Stool has reiterated that the rightful and only recognized Ga Mantse of the Ga traditional area is Nii Adama Latse and called for indigenes to abhor any other candidate enstooled.

At a news conference in Accra Friday, Yaote Otoga II who’s the spokesperson of Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II criticized some government officials for wading into the chieftaincy issues.

The Ga chieftaincy crisis has been fueled with a renewed tension after one Dr Kelvin Tackie was installed as the new Ga Chief with the stool name Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II last Friday.

According to Yaote Otoga II he was Nii Tackie was part of the candidates vetted for the stool but did not make the cut.

“In January this year Nii Dodoo Nsakyi as one of his tricks in his arsenal orchestrated an invasion of land guards into the Ga Mantse palace in Kaneshie Accra. The regional security under the guise of protecting the Ga Mantse locked up the palace. Unknown to us the regional Security Council was working in close cooperation with Kelvin Tackie who now says he’s the Ga Mantse.

“For your information Kelvin Tackie was one of those who were selected to come for vetting. He came and sat before me and we did not choose him….. He has made himself the Ga Mantse in four different locations,” He stated

“… it has turned out as events unfolded on 20th October, 2017 that REGSEC was determined using State power, the Police and detachment of the military to install a Ga Mantse for the Ga people, it shall not happen. They forcefully took the keys to the stool room from Nii David Tackie Commey, drove away all members of the Ga Paramount Stool justices from the Ga Mantse stool house and allowed the revelers to perform certain customary rites to purport to install Kelvin Tackie in a position they call Ga Mantse.

We have one Ga Mantse, Nii Adama Latse, apart from him theres no other Ga Mantse”, he exclaimed

The factions clashed Wednesday at the palace of Ga Mantse triggering a heavy police presence. The crisis dates back to 2006 when Chief Warrior of Ga Mashie, Nii Owula Kpakpa Blofonyo known traditionally as the Akwashong Mantse challenged the occupant of the stool.
