Newly renovated Ridge Hospital opens to the public

The rehabilitated Greater Accra Regional Hospital, formerly Ridge Hospital, has been opened to the public, promising to deliver an improved quality healthcare to the people within the region and beyond using ultra-modern facilities.

The 420-bed facility has a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment block with a 24-hour surgical theatre, accident and emergency unit, neonatal intensive care unit, intensive care unit and delivery unit, pharmacy among others.

Patients can from Wednesday, May 17 access healthcare services from the new facility which is the first of two phase project started by the John Mahama administration with a $250 million funding from Exim USA and HSBC UK with support from US and French governments.

At a ceremony Wednesday to officially open the facility for operation, Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu, revealed government’s commitment to complete the second phase of the project scheduled to be completed in 2018.

He acknowledged efforts made by the Mahama-led administration. Meanwhile Mr Agyeman Manu has called for good maintenance culture to enhance proper management of the facility for its optimum use.

“The next few months of the operationalisaton of this hospital will be critical as it calls for a positive change in all facets of our working practices and I expect the management to rise up to the occasion.

It will not be easy especially with the introduction of new technologies but with the commitment to duty and willingness to learn I believe we shall overcome,” he said
