Newly trained teachers who have been posted to various institutions across the country are commencing work on October 3, 2016 according to a released memo from the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Earlier last week in an interview on Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the GES Rev. Jonathan Bettey said it was only after financial clearance has been secured from the Ministry of Finance, they could begin work.

But a memo sighted ultimatefmonline.com and signed by the Acting Deputy Director-General, Mrs. Cynthia Bosumtwi-Sam, directed all Regional Directors to “complete the process of all Newly Trained Teachers in the Metro/ Municipal/ District (MMD) Education Directorates and submit the returns on the postings by September 23rd, 2016”.

The memo added that all Newly Trained Teachers should be given appointment letters and they are to report for duty on October 23, 2016.

The Ministry of Education on 19th September, 2016 wrote to all Regional Directors of Education with express instructions to post all Newly Trained Teachers but not issue an appointment letter to them to begin work.

“All newly trained teachers should be posted but are not to be issued with appointment letters and are to be in the classrooms to teach until financial clearance has been granted by the Ministry of Finance”.
