The Gomoa Traditional Area in the Central Region has installed Rev Obed Danquah, a renowned minister and proprietor of Morgan International School, as the Adontenhene of Gomoa Ablekum and Chief Arbitrator (Nkabomehene) of the Traditional Area in a bid to help address the challenge of land and chieftaincy disputes.
He will now be known by his stool name, Osofo Nana Osomfo Kweku Nkrumah Danquah.
His mandate is to spearhead development in Gomoa Ablekum while serving as the chief mediator in land and chieftaincy disputes across the traditional area.
Speaking at the installation ceremony, the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, charged the new chief to work tirelessly to ensure that peace and unity prevail in the area.
According to the Omanhene, Osofo Nana Osomfo Kweku Nkrumah Danquah was chosen because the traditional council seeks to end disputes that have hindered the region’s progress and deterred government-led development projects.
He stressed that conflicts rob the area of growth and urged the newly installed chief to be firm in his decisions and collaborate with other chiefs when necessary.
While acknowledging the enormity of the responsibility, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah expressed confidence in the new chief’s leadership, assuring that the authority bestowed upon him will empower him to deliver effectively.
In his acceptance speech, Osofo Nana Osomfo Kweku Nkrumah Danquah pledged loyalty to the Omanhene and the entire Gomoa Traditional Area.
He vowed to mediate disputes impartially, foster peace, and create an enabling environment for development.
He further promised to work with fellow chiefs to create employment opportunities for the youth, discouraging them from engaging in landguard activities that destabilise communities.
He also reminded traditional leaders that prolonged legal battles over land disputes drain resources that could otherwise be invested in community development.
He concluded by calling on all chiefs and stakeholders to embrace peace for the collective progress of the Gomoa Ajumako area.
