While speaking to journalists at the scene of the tragedy, he noted the importance of doing things the right way, emphasizing on the role of regulatory bodies in enforcing building codes, especially in schools at places like Ayalolo and Mamprobi Sempe.
He, therefore, urged authorities to immediately inspect school infrastructure to ensure safety standards are met.
“Anything that has to do with children is the reason I am here,” he stated, adding that while education remains important, the safety of children must be prioritised.
The Ga Mantse further called on regulatory institutions to assess structures across schools and other public spaces, insisting that any unsafe buildings must be pulled down and replaced.
“Safety, service and regulation are key. We must ensure building codes are adhered to at all times,” he stressed.
The Ga Mantse also announced his intent to support the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other agencies to strengthen inspections and enforcements.
He also appreciated key officials, including the Ghana Army, the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Regional Minister, for their swift response efforts to tackle the situation.
