New Juaben South NDC calls for reconciliation of figures on voters register

Koforidua, Oct. 14, GNA - Members of New Juaben South Constituency of National Democratic Congress (NDC), have called on the New Juaben Municipal Directorate of Electoral Commission (EC) to come out with records on the recent limited registration exercise for reconciliation.

A statement from the Constituency Secretariat signed by, Mr Emmanuel Forster-Tetteh, Constituency Secretary copied to Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua said available data collated from the 30 registration centres in the constituency was 11,085 during the exercise.

It said out of the figure, 7,735 eligible voters were provided with photographs while 3,350 were not provided with photographs. The statement said at an inter-party consultative meeting, the Director of EC in the municipality informed the meeting that, it recorded 11,492 eligible voters during the exercise. It said the conflicting figures required reconciliation for all stakeholders to be satisfied about the available date to ensure a level playing field for all concerned. The statement called on the EC for records on registered voters in the constituency by end of April 2006 and May 2006. Ms Lydia Agyiri, New Juaben Municipal Director of EC, when contacted said she had not formally received any letter from the Party requesting for the available records on the voters register in the constituency, adding" I will respond when a formal request is made to the office." However, she confirmed that EC recorded 11,492 registered voters in New Juaben South Constituency during the exercise.
