New GSFP National Coordinator Hajia Fati Forgor assumes office

The newly appointed National Coordinator for the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, has officially taken office, pledging to build on the achievements of her predecessor, Hajia Safia Mohammed.

Hajia Fati Forgor, along with her two deputy national coordinators, Madam Felicia Mekpoi Bortey and Madam Faustina Lamptey—both Regional Women Organizers for Greater Accra and the Central Region, respectively—was warmly received by Hajia Safia Mohammed, as well as the management and staff of the GSFP National Secretariat.

At a brief handing-over ceremony held in honor of Hajia Fati Forgor and her deputies, the outgoing National Coordinator, Hajia Safia Mohammed, officially handed over the keys to the GSFP National Secretariat, along with official vehicles and other essential working tools and documents.

Hajia Safia congratulated the new coordinators on their appointments and assured them of her willingness to offer advice or support whenever needed.

She urged the management and staff of the school feeding program to provide the new leadership with the necessary support and cooperation to enhance its operations.

Additionally, she encouraged Hajia Fati Forgor to remain firm, courageous, and resolute in running the program.

In her address, Hajia Fati Forgor expressed deep appreciation for the warm and mature reception she and her deputies received from the outgoing National Coordinator.

She called on all staff to work together in unity, avoid backbiting, and strive for collective success.

“I am here to work with the entire office as a team. I am not here to witch-hunt anyone, nor will I base my interactions with any officer on prejudice. I don’t believe in that. I believe in getting to know people.

"I don’t believe in someone telling me who another person is. You need to relate to the individual to determine for yourself whether what you’ve heard is true or otherwise.”

On behalf of the management and staff, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Madam Akyere Frimpong Manu, welcomed Hajia Fati Forgor and her deputies to the GSFP National Secretariat.

She pledged the full support of the staff and management to the new leadership and encouraged them to work hard to improve the social intervention program.

Meanwhile, the government has increased the feeding grant per child per meal from GH¢1.50 to GH¢2.00. This announcement was made by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson during the presentation of the 2025 budget statement in Parliament.
