New Education Minister meets with heads of agencies

Accra, Feb. 18, GNA - Mr Alex Tettey-Enyo, Minister of Education, on Wednesday, met with heads of 16 agencies under the Ministry to introduce himself to them ahead of a planned tour of their agencies to have a first hand look at their status. Some of the agencies whose heads met with the Minister included the Ghana Library Board, Ghana Education Trust Fund, National Accreditation Board and the Council on Technical and Vocational Education.

Mr Tetteh-Enyo, who was introduced to the heads by Mr Ato Essuman, the Chief Director of the Ministry, reminded them of their role as civil servants to work for the development of the country, no matter which government was in power. The Minister told them that the aim of the change message of the government was to ensure an improvement in productivity for the improvement of the lot of Ghanaians and urged them to make this reflect in their work. While calling on them to collaborate with him to work assiduously for the development of the sector, the Minister warned that non-performing staff members who failed to perform creditably would be shown the exit. The Minister who was once the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said he was ready to work with them to find lasting solutions to them.
