New C'ttees to manage Presbyterian Institutions

Accra, March 13, GNA - The Presbyterian church of Ghana on Tuesday inaugurated various committees under its Education Department to run affairs of its educational institutions.

The Education Department, created out of the Department of Development and Social Services have four main committees: Basic and Secondary education, Tertiary education, Vocational and Technical education and Non-formal education.

The Right Revered Dr. Yaw Frimpong Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana who performed the inauguration stated that the committees were to ensure effective and efficient management of Presbyterian schools.

He said the various committees had the tasks of promoting teaching and learning at all levels of education as well as ensuring community participation and support for the schools.

Right Rev. Frimpong Manso said the ultimate aim of the church was to establish model basic and vocation schools for each presbytery and rehabilitate existing ones by 2016.

He said this called for a proactive decision to raise the standard of education by ensuring quality service delivery to all students, to reshape their moral character.

He stated that the church would continue to improve the capacity of its institutional management capacity to make them effective implementers of the tasks ahead for the church to capture and sustain its position as pace setters in education.

Mr. A. A. Akuoko, Chairperson of the Committees said members would work diligently in fulfilment of the church's educational goals.
