New Asantefuohemaah Of The Asanteman Association Of New York

NANA BEMAH AKENTEN AKA MS. GRACE GENFI IS THE NEW ASANTEFUOHEMAAH OF THE ASANTEMAN ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK.

At long last, the Asanteman Association of New Yorkhas elected Nana Bemah Akenten aka Ms.Grace Genfi as the new Queen Motherof the Association. They went to the polls on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Ghanata Hall, Webster Avenuebetween 182nd and 183rd St, Bronx, New York.

The Queen Mothership elections had been postponed several times due to some unforeseen circumstances. After a very keen contest, Nana Bemah Akenten beat her opponent Ms. Mary Fobi , as of the end of the election.

Ms. Fobi, who considered defeat in good faith, pledged her unflinching support to the winner and urged her supporters to do same. She said, "for the sake of Asanteman and Ghana, I am ever willing to give out my best whenever I am called to do so. I harbor no ill feeling against any one.

Some of the members shed Tears, Joy, Excitement and amidst of clapping from the members who were at the meeting, when the 2 contestants were seen hugging each other after the declaration of the results and a healthy hands shake to say to each other " let us go for Peace, Love, and Unity, United we stand, Divided we fall . United is stronger."

The Asantefuohene of New York, Okokyeredom Tieku Acheampong on behalf of the Association expressed his profound gratitude to the electoral committee which comprises of Messer’s Augustine Okyere, George Osei and Ms. Margret Adjoa Nyarko aka "ODENEHO NYARKO" for their good job and professional attitude, for making sure that a winner emerges from this free and fair elections without any misunderstanding.

Okokyeredom Acheampong told the full capacity of members at the hall that "we should let the Peace, Love and Respect continue in our midst ,also to forgive one another and up-hold the spirit of Unity that have been shown today.

The Asantefuohene of New York urged the members to do away with any negative actions that will bring a bad tag to the Association, "please, you should refrain from ill information, baseless allegations, avoid pertinent, jealousy, and evenness,"

"We should all join hands on the moving Train to support the newly elected officials, so that we can go back for our past Glory, since the Asanteman Association is for all of us and I am appealing to you not to do any thing that will drag our name in a mud" the Asantefuohene of New York noted.

The newly elected Asantefuohemaah of New York, Nana Bemah Akenten on her part thanked the members for the confidence that reposed in her " I will at all times give out my total best and I am urging you all to bury your differences and let us live as one people with one Vision to brain storm together to move the Asanteman Association to a positive and influential level"

Nana Bemah Akenten noted that, the Asanteman Association is the winner today and we should let Asanteman Association be a winner always " I will not hesitate to consult, when the needy arises "

"My doors are widely open for conservative criticism and advice that will let the Association to be a vibrant one and win more Lauer’s" the Queen mother noted.

Present to Grace the colorful event were some Council of Elders, Nana Abena Manu, the immediate past Asantefuohemaah of the Association, Wofa Yaw Sarkodie, Auntie Yaa Adowaa, Dr.VictorAnning, Nana Yaw Amoh and Mr. Daniel Adjei aka Kuwait a shipping magnet in New York.
