His Excellency Ambassador Konadu Yiadom, Ghana’s New Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium , Luxemburg and the Head of the Mission to the European Union, presented his letters of Accreditation to the Belgium King Albert II last Wednesday, 2 February 2011. He was accompanied by officials of the Ghana Mission including Minister Philbert Johnson.
After his presentation, he was welcomed to the residency by leaders of the Ghanaian Community in Belgium which included Dr Ibn Chambers, Secretary General of the African ,Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Secretariat in Brussels. Among the Community leaders were, Mr Kwaku Boamah Acheampong, (President of the umbrella organization Ghana Council, Pastor Theo Kuma, Secretary, Nana Boateng (Asantemanhene of Belgium), Nana Ahenkora Akyem Kusi Akwamuhene, Mr Solomon Agyin of King Solomon Trading, Nana Kwaku Duah, Miss Akosua Pepra, Pastor Agyeman and Pastor Frank Acquah.
Also present were the Wife of the Ambassador, Mr Mark Entsei (Minister Counselor) and other officials from the mission.
Ambassador Yiadom thanked the leaders for their presence and indicated he is in for an open and cordial relationship with the Ghanaian community. Now that he is fully accredited he will be available for all activities that are meant to promote Ghana and also to foster unity among Ghanaians. He mentioned that Ghana has a good name in Belgium and this was confirmed by the King so all should do well to uphold such an image.
Ambassador will make his first major appearance to the Ghanaian Community at the forth coming Kente Dinner Dance Party planned by Ghana Council as part of the celebration of Ghana’s 54th Independence Day. The party will come on Saturday 5th March at 683 Brusselsteenweg, 1731 Brussels.
