Grief has enveloped the nation following the devastating news of the Z9 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region, which claimed the life of Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah.

The incident, which occurred on August 6, 2025, has sent shockwaves throughout the country, with tributes pouring in from all corners, as reported on X on the same date.

"We honestly don't know what to do upon hearing of his death. We're wailing in pain. We don't understand how this happened. This morning, our father, Dr Omane Boamah, usually goes to work in his white car, but this time, he used his black car. We were at home when we were told he had passed away. We couldn't comprehend it," a resident shared.

Dr Boamah, known for his dedication and service, was not only a key leader in the government but also a beloved member of the community.

"We were taken aback when we left our homes to his apartment and saw many people coming to the house, including soldiers. That is when we understood that he was indeed gone. We're in pain and have lost a crucial breadwinner. He was our only source of hope and support," the resident added.

Reports indicate that the helicopter was on a routine mission when it crashed, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

"We're all saddened and grieving. We don't know what to do anymore. His death has hit us hard. We never expected such a tragedy to befall Ghana as a whole. The one who provided for us is no longer here. Our helper is gone. We're in deep mourning," he concluded.
