Negligence did not play a part in Mills’ death - Brother

A Brother of late President Mills, Dr. Cadman Atta Mills has ruled out negligence on the part of aides of President Mills as a possible cause of the late President's death.

The Daily Guide newspaper sought to give description of events that took place a week ago before the death of the President.

In the said reportage, the paper apparently insinuated that some officials at the Castle failed to do their job and were negligent in the course of duty leading to the death of President Mills.

But speaking on Breakfast XYZ on Tuesday for the first time since the death of his brother, Dr. Cadman Atta Mills said claims of negligence leading to the death of his brother are outrageous.

According to him, negligence did not have a role to play in the death of the President adding that the President only complained of a neck pain prior to his death.

“He was complaining of a problem with his neck and very frankly that came as a bit of a surprise because what I knew that he didn’t have a problem with his neck but just the sinus. Then in the course of the day he became very pensive and very reflective and very at peace with himself” Mr. Atta Mills said.

“Negligence is a very strong word to use in this context, I can guarantee you that everybody around the President did the very best that they could do and I start especially with the Doctors who have been with him ever since he became President”.

Dr. Cadman who paid a glowing tribute to his late brother reacted to claims that his brother was not carved for politics.

Dr. Cadman Atta Mills said the qualities exhibited by his brother as a politician deserves emulation.

“There is no such thing as been too decent to be a politician; there are people who go into politics because they would like get political power to achieve their own objectives.

“I think that one of the biggest achievements of President Mills is to show that it is still possible for decent people, people who care to have an impact and the only way that you can have an impact is to get into public life and be in a position where you can decide policies and implement policies” Mr. Mills added.**
