Nduom knocks on doors

at Okponglo, La Bawaleshie, Shiashie and Mempehuasem communities.

Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom says Ghana needs a visionary leader, imbued with the requisite knowledge, skills, attitude and a reformer’s mindset, to solve the many challenges facing the country.

Dr. Nduom expressed fears that widespread poverty, destitution and neglect could become the lot of many Ghanaians for many years to come, if the electorate failed to appreciate that governance was a serious undertaking with dire consequences for the entire nation, when the right people are not identified and given the opportunities to govern.

He stated that “the PPP is the alternative party that wants the opportunity to implement an agenda for Change that is built on Stewardship, Education, Healthcare and Jobs. We will implement this agenda using the framework of inclusiveness that will enable us to use the best Ghanaians; full participation of women and the youth; and above all a leadership that is incorruptible”.

According to Dr Nduom, fighting corruption and wastage in the public sector alone will double government revenue which could be used to pay for key transformational initiatives in education, healthcare and job creation. “But without your votes which determines who leads the country, we will not have the chance to implement these wonderful policies we have been proposing” he said.

The PPP leader was speaking to traditional authorities and clan heads as part of the party’s community outreach programme to Okponglo, La Bawaleshie, Shiashie and Mempehuasem communities in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency. Dr. Nduom insisted that until Ghanaians elected the right leader, capable of identifying and appointing the right people to manage various sectors of the economy efficiently and effectively, the country would continue to grope in the dark without direction, saying “you have the choice to make a difference by voting for the alternative PPP or support the entrenchment of the status quo by voting for one of the old parties again, which means another four years frustration”.

At Okponglo, a leading member of the Party, Ladi Nylander assured community leaders of the PPP’s capacity to deliver on employment when Dr. Nduom becomes President. He said Dr. Nduom’s experience as an employer puts him ahead of any other candidate in the Presidential race when it comes to job creation, insisting he was the best man for the job of President at a time when unemployment is at an all time high in the country.

The National Chairman of the Party Nii Allottey Brew-Hammond, on his part told the Chiefs and people of Mempehuasen and La Bawaleshie that, the PPP’s proposed policy of Free Compulsory Continuous Education was realistic and attainable. He said the party’s pillar of stewardship will be inculcated into public servants and state agencies to ensure they worked with integrity and diligence to avoid the situation where the state budgets a whooping 700 Million Cedis of tax payers money for judgement debt. “In the PPP administration we will add the whole judgement debt budget to that of education to deliver on our promise” he said.

The party's Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, William Dowokpor assured the communities of his determination to introduce his new form of “representation of the people by the people for the people” in place of the current “representation of the party by the party for the party”. He said he would aggressively advocate for reliability in utility and public services, jobs for the youth and security to life and property; with the active involvement of constituents in governance at all levels.
