Nduom is the best alternative to NDC and NPP - Research

Ho, July 22, GNA - Research in all regions except Greater Accra has shown that Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the 2008 Elections is still the party’s best bet to win the 2012 Elections.

“This means that if the CPP is serious in performing creditably in the upcoming general election, it should maintain Dr Nduom as their flagbearer,” Mr Richard Armah, spokesperson for Youth for Nduom 2012, a research group, told the Ghana News Agency in Ho.

He said over 80 percent of respondents in the research endorsed Dr Nduom as the best alternative to NDC’s President John Atta Mills and NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mr Armah said; “Though we have not been to Greater Accra, the results of the research in the nine regions make the views of respondents in Greater Accra inconsequential”.

He said the “overwhelming” response was due to the “impressive” performance of Dr Nduom both as a Minister and a businessman with some respondents referring to “the jobs he has created as the reasons for choosing him”.

Mr Armah said apart from ascertaining the viability of Dr Nduom as a presidential candidate for 2012, the team took time to find out the concerns of CPP supporters and sympathizers.

He said most of the respondents concerns had to do with disunity in the party and called on the CPP’s leadership to unite for the betterment of the party and Ghana’s democracy.

Mr Armah said some respondents also wanted the CPP to be “visible” at the grassroots level.

The team which started its work in June this year will wrap up in Greater Accra next month.

Regarding the objectivity of the research, Mr Armah said though commissioned by Dr Nduom, members of the research group were selected through an interview "which was non-political and unbiased".
