If the disqualified candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is allowed to contest in the presidential election, he will beat President John Dramani Mahama, Director of Elections for the NPP, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah has asserted.

He made the remarks in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.

Mr Korsah indicated that the candidate for the PPP is being accepted by the electorates better than President Mahama.

He posited that, the incumbent president has lost touch with the people of Ghana because he has failed woefully, has no message for the people and only marking time.

‘’If Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom is allowed to contest the presidential election, he will beat President Mahama. Have you seen anyone hooting at Papa Kwesi Nduom on his campaign trail? Have you not seen how the Vice President and other Ministers of State were rejected and hooted at by electorates on their campaign trail? Have also not seen how Ghanaians shouted we want change when he [President Mahama] toured the Greater Accra region? These are stories we all aware of. I want to stress that if Dr. Nduom Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings are reinstated, they will beat the president in the presidential election.’’

Dr. Nduom was disqualified together with 12 other presidential aspirants following what the EC said were mistake(s) found on his presidential nomination form.

He is currently challenging his disqualification. The PPP in a suit filed on behalf of its flag-bearer on Friday, October 14, 2016 is seeking “an order of prohibition to restrain the EC from proceeding with balloting for positions of presidential candidates for the 7th December elections.

The plaintiff is also seeking “…a further order directed against the 1st Respondent in her capacity as Returning Officer for presidential elections to grant the Applicant the opportunity to amend and alter the one anomaly found in his nomination papers as well as accept his nomination papers as amended or altered to enable him contest as a Presidential Candidate for the 7th December, 2016 elections.”

“And for such order or further as to this Honourable Court may deem fit.”

An Accra Court presided over by Justice Eric Kyei Baffour will on Tuesday October 25, 2016 set a date for ruling after lawyers for the EC and PPP file their statement of case today [Monday].
