National Peace Council has faced ejection from its office twice – Chairman

A lack of office space for members of the National Peace Council for the past years has set administrative work in limbo, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante has bemoaned.

In an interaction with host Bola Ray on Starr Chat Wednesday, Prof. Asante revealed, “We have been served on two occasions with ejections, because that building belongs to a petroleum company.”

The inconvenience in operating from a makeshift office has compelled him to sometimes meet several of his guests at the Methodists Church’s offices, he said.

“I don’t have an office; go and see where the National Peace Council is located. We’ve been pushing to get an office and we are not getting it and we’ve been given some rickety building. What we are now trying to do is to try as much as possible and get them to push something for us .We have even had logistics problems,” Prof. Asante complained.

The Chairman of the Council irked by the frustrations that comes with the job indicated that the last straw that broke the camel’s back is the tongues wagging on the perceived luxury of that position he occupies, when on the contrary he’s playing that role in a selfless and sacrificial manner.

He said”People should get themselves informed before they talk, otherwise you discourage people who for the sake of the love of the country want to kill themselves to do the little that they can.”
