National Growth Depends On Churches - DCE

THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere West, Honourable Thomas Edward Atakorah, has stated that church leaders are role models in their respective societies thus the growth of the church in particular and the nation as a whole depends on them.

He appealed to religious leaders, parents and opinion leaders to intensify the crusade against immorality and indiscipline in society.

He made the appeal at the Asante Presbytery conference held at Asante Mampong at the weekend.

The theme for the conference was "Advancing the Cause of Christ in Change."

Atakorah stated that the situation in the country at the moment demands that Ghanaians join hands with the government to seek ways of combating the multiple anti-social issues emerging in the country.

He lamented the violence and indiscipline showing up among the youth, which is assuming alarming proportions and can tear the nation apart if unchecked.

Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, chairperson of the Asante Presbytery, stressed the need for Christians to adopt positive behavioural change because Christians are like newspapers that people read.

He said the gospel and the resurrection of Christ should be spread to all nations to give the nation a positive change in this era of armed robbery, indiscipline and other vices.

He stressed that ethnic differences should be buried to enable the gospel to advance and thus pave the way for development.

According to him, the condom is a human effort and not a lasting solution to HIV/AIDS.
