National Constitution Forum begins on December 5

Accra, Oct. 27, GNA - The National Governance Programme in collaboration with Parliament would from December 5-12 organize a National Constitutional Forum aimed at enhancing public participation in the policy process and consensus building.

A programme on the theme, "We the people of Ghana; Understanding and Living the Constitution at 50" would be held throughout the country as follows:

Accra: La Palm Royal Beach Hotel (5th-6th December), Kumasi: Miklin Hotel (9th December), Tamale: Radach Hotel (12th December).

A statement issued by the Global Media Alliance and signed by Alberta Akosa, Sales Executive, said the Forum was to help seek national consensus on and commitment to the past quest towards democratic consolidation, poverty reduction and sustainable human development.

It said since the 17th Speaker's Breakfast Forum held in Accra on 21st June, 2004, which was on the theme: "The 1992 Constitution of Ghana: A Reflection," several commentaries and reviews had been made and written about the Constitution by people from all works of life. The National Governance Workshop was introduced in 1997 as a public platform for conducting broad-based dialogue on critical governance issues, with a view to sharing information.
