National Church Choirs Union hold rally

Accra, Sept. 10, GNA - The National Church Choirs Union of the Global Evangelical Church, has begun its triennial rally for the year 2010 on the theme: 93A Choir after God's Own Heart - A Tool for Church Growth".

Reverend Samuel Dumevi, Inter-Church Relations Secretary of the Church, speaking at a welcome service on Thursday, noted that the Sermons, Worship and Music were three things that brought about rapid church growth.

He said Christians must be careful not to be rejected by God as "this was the worst that could happen to any child of God".

Rev. Dumevi urged the participating choirs to adopt the nine qualities of David as outlined in first Samuel 16:18 to become a choir after God's own heart, adding that a choir or chorister after God's heart must be chosen by God.

They should also be approved by men, have power of praise, be brave, speak well, have a good character and walk in the presence of God.

In his welcoming address, Mr Eugene Gyamena, Assistant Headmaster of the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (Presec), said music and singing played important roles in the worship of God and urged the choirs to play their roles well as a way of expressing love and thanks to God.

The four-day programme has participating choirs from Ho, Jasikan, Akachi, Kpando, Accra, Kumasi and Koforidua.
