The Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections and former Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged party executives in the Ashanti Region to confront the reality of the party’s electoral defeat and commit to rebuilding trust with the Ghanaian people.

Speaking at a regional engagement with constituency vice chairpersons, secretaries, research and communication officers, treasurers, and financial controllers, Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, said the NPP must accept responsibility for its loss and work together to restore the faith Ghanaians once had in the party.

“My message was clear. I spoke a simple but indisputable truth: we lost the election,” he stated.

“The country wanted relief, results, and renewal. And we heard that message loud and clear.”

He emphasized that while the 2024 defeat was painful, it presents an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and strategic rebuilding. According to him, the NPP’s long-standing mission of Development in Freedom remains relevant, but regaining public confidence is essential before seeking power again.

“This is not the end of our great tradition. This is our moment to reflect, reconnect with reality, and rebuild stronger,” he charged.

“We cannot simply ask for power again. We must first restore the trust Ghanaians once placed in us. Only then will we earn their mandate once more.”

Dr Opoku Prempeh called on all party executives to demonstrate humility, unity, and service as the NPP charts a new path forward. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with party structures and grassroots members to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

He said the NPP must draw on its enduring values to rekindle hope among Ghanaians and continue to serve with integrity and purpose.
